Fall Ensemble Auditions

Here is the audition information for bands. The audition schedule will be finalized VERY SOON, so stay tuned.

Students should prepare solo material of their choice, displaying both their lyrical and technical abilities, and the required excerpts.

Specific requirements and downloadable PDF’s of the audition excerpts have been posted since August 2.

The auditions are important—please plan to be well prepared.

Those students participating in Marching Band will have limited access to practice outside of band camp, Aug. 26-Sept. 1, and therefore really need to be prepared BEFORE band camp begins.

Here is the audition information for orchestra.

Here is a list of “most-frequently-asked excerpts.”

Here is a source for the music for many of the most popular bassoon excerpts.

There are a few convenient audition lists (with music) on the web. Here are examples:

If you can, choose one lyrical excerpt and one technical excerpt. Try to choose a solo and excerpts you can play very well, to show your best playing. I highly recommend you listen to at least one professional recording of your chosen excerpts.
